Kvpm is a GUI front end for Linux LVM and Gnu parted. LVM2 groups and volumes can be created, removed and manipulated using most of the options supported by the standard LVM2 tools. Some support for creating and operating on partitions is also provided. It also handles creating and mounting file systems.

The LVM version: 2.02.98 or newer must be installed with the lvm2app library. Only the KDE 4 libraries need to be installed, not the entire desktop, so it my be run from within Gnome for instance.

User Reviews

  • Absolutely Brilliant, useful for all lvm2 tasks, this exceptional piece of software is not a replacement for learning the lvm2 command line, unlike the systemd command line (which as a concept I both love and hate) the lvm2 command line is stable unlikely to kreep (I don't predict an LVM2FS) and an essential in any SA's toolkit of understanding. This GUI presents lvm2 volumes in a well layed out manner and believe me when I say I have a complex lvm install, I recently migrated this complex disk structure from underlying md devices (the logical system predated lmv mirroring) to lvm builtin mirroring in the 36hrs that this project was unavailable all on the command line. I am using Arch with KDE having migrated from OpenSuse Leap 42.1 because KDE was way too unstable. I have a stable GUI that looks great and has powerful GUI admin tools such as this! The only thing I've spotted so far is that it doesn't detect that my encrypted volumes are mounted but this is really no big and I'll probably solve that next time I look at it!
